Apple’s Flagship Product Continues to be the iPhone
No matter what types of stops Apple pulls out, whether it’s launching a brand new iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, upgrading its Mac line of computers and laptops, or offering something cool and neat like the Apple Watch, nothing really changes. The company’s top selling product, and most popular line of bestselling tech gadgets, continues to be the iPhone lines.
Apple is also the proud parent of the new and improved Apple TV along with Apple Music, a music streaming service. All of these recent creations and developments are exciting, and doing well, but they are no competition for the company’s most beloved product: their iPhone.
With the fall launch of the 6S and 6S Plus, Apple has had a most successful and profitable quarter. Is there any type of product Apple could possibly put out to compete with the series of smartphones that made the company what it is today? Not likely, say tech experts.
Researchers say the only product that has seen an excitement level anywhere near the iPhone is the new Apple TV. There is no doubt that the new Apple TV is pretty amazing. With cool apps and tons of features, the Apple TV is a neat home gadget that finally updates the set top box, with the last update of the TV being three years ago. The Apple TV is definitely poised to make some waves in the gadget world, but we aren’t sure if it will still equal the profit and anticipation of the iPhone’s release each fall.
One has to ponder if the reason the iPhone is still the top selling gadget. Is it because people use phones so widely in their everyday life, and each time Apple comes out with a new series of phones offering upgrades, consumers feel the need to replace their existing iPhone? It is a fact that die hard Apple fans get new phones every year, even on the “off” years when Apple only makes small tweaks and not large changes.
However, the changes that DO happen every other year tend to be pretty major, such as this year’s 3D Touch feature and multiple other upgrades to the software and hardware of the smartphone. With Apple’s other products, such as iPads and computers, consumers may not feel the need to upgrade these as often, which may lessen the excitement about newer products in other Apple lines.
As far as the Apple Watch goes, though it did not meet sales expectations, it is still considered a success, although many buyers simply don’t know yet if the Apple Watch is an essential item, such as the iPhone or even the iPad, which Apple hopes in the future may replace computers altogether. (then what will become of Mac computers? Who knows!)
Why do you think the iPhone has been so successful? Which Apple product could you see really taking off?
