New Nintendo 3DS XL Hyrule Gold Edition Hands-On Review
The New Nintendo 3DS XL is an upgraded, redesigned version of the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL. We had the pleasure of unboxing the exclusive Hyrule Gold Edition at the BuyBackWorld facilities.
Released in 2015, the New 3DS XL’s 4.88-inch 3D display and 4.18-inch touchscreen are a jump up from the original Nintendo 3DS’ 3.53-inch upper and 3.02-inch lower screens.
Unlike its 3DS XL predecessor, the New 3DS XL features brand new face-tracking technology. The devices’ internal cameras use face-tracking to adjust the game’s 3D images according to your viewing angle.
The console also comes equipped with three additional controls for an enhanced gaming experience. A second analog stick, named the ‘C stick’, is now located above the ‘X’ and ‘Y’ buttons within comfortable reach of your right thumb. Two new shoulder buttons, ‘ZL’ and ‘ZR’, have also been added as displayed below.
The new system also boasts an upgraded ARM11 MPCore quad processor, improved camera quality, and smoother Internet browsing that incorporates the new controls. It’s compatible with all Nintendo 3DS games, while other titles will be exclusive to the New 3DS XL.
The Hyrule Gold Edition takes the New XL’s upgraded design to another level, particularly for diehard Zelda enthusiasts. Coinciding with the October, 2015 release of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, the limited edition build is draped in a gold cover and features a Hylian Crest on the front.
BuyBackWorld Bottom Line: The New Nintendo 3DS XL’s upgraded controls and face-tracking technology allow for a more immersive 3D gaming experience. And the gold-colored Hyrule Edition adds style points and exclusivity to the best handheld gaming console on the market.
If you’re interested in making the upgrade, you can always sell your used Nintendo console to BuyBackWorld to offset the cost.
